What we believe

The members of Zion Baptist Church hold to what the Bible teaches; summarised below:

  1. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the only rule of faith and practice.
  2. In the unity of the One God in three co-equal, co-eternal persons – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. In the divinity and sinless humanity of Jesus Christ as the God-man mediator.
  4. All people are sinners before God and worthy of His judgement.
  5. In the irresistible call of God’s grace.
  6. In redemption and justification through the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ.
  7. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to convict people of their sins before God and to work a change in their lives and souls.
  8. All for whom Christ died will persevere and at last enter into His Glory.
  9. In the general resurrection and judgement of all people.
  10. The eternal bliss of the saints and the everlasting punishment of the wicked.

Church members agree to our declaration of faith and practice. We also believe that the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith is a good summary of what the Bible teaches.
